　　政治学是一个课程内容聚焦政治的学科，美国政治学主要包括美国政治和国际政治两项内容，具体又可细分为美国政治学，比较政治学，国际政治学，政治学理论和政治学方法论。学生可攻读本科，研究生和博士三种学位，不过现在主要致力于研究生培养方向。由于政治和人们的生活息息相关，它的功能主要是公民教育、公共机构教育、政策研究和指导、参与公共事务等，所以这门学科是绝对人文的。

　　市场需求较大，50%以上的毕业生到公司工作，有的成为企业管理人员、政府工作人员、外交官员、公务员、作家、编辑和公关人员。起薪不高，但提升较快，20%以上的毕业生成为企业主管，其他职业多为管理人员，或在保险、证券、地产、商业服务业工作。也有很大一部分留学生回国就业成为了他们的选择，尤其是顶级学校毕业的学生，可进政策研究所，高校，政府机构，NGO(非政府组织)，还有的学生加入了联合国驻中国的各个机构。
