纽约大学(New York University)简称“NYU”,是一所位于纽约的世界著名私立研究型大学,成立于1831年。纽约大学由18个学院和研究所组成,已经成为全美国境内规模最大的私立非营利高等教育机构之一,同时也是美国唯一一座位于纽约心脏地带的私立名校(另两所分校位于阿布扎比和上海)

人类用于言语工作记忆(vWM)中储存和处理信息的神经结构要比以前人们所理解的更加复杂,纽约大学的研究者们2016年12月在Nature Neuroscience上发表了新研究,这一发现对人工智能系统例如语音翻译工具的构建有着重要的意义。这项研究认为,在言语记忆工作中的信息处理过程包含了大脑中两个不同的网络,而不是以往认为的一个,这个发现可能会对打造语音翻译工具这样的人工智能系统产生影响。本文的第一作者是Greg Cogan,他曾经是纽约大学的一名博士后,现在来到了杜克大学;其他共同作者包括纽约大学Langone医学中心综合性癫痫中心主任Orrin Devinsky教授,纽约大学Langone神经外科系副教授Dan Friedman,和纽约大学神经系统助理教授Lucia Melloni。该研究旨在对这种思考、规划和创造性推理至关重要的工作记忆形式进行研究,并涉及了记忆中的语言形式转换,以及形成语言所需的信息。[33]

纽约大学全校共有五处独立的图书馆,还不包括各学院系专业的图书馆。总图书馆(The Elmer HolmesBobst Library and Study Center),拥有超过二百万册以上的藏书及当代期刊。各式文献手稿及一个现代化的视听中心。视听中心珍藏大量录音带、录像带,供学生选借欣赏。The Law Library藏书超过七十万册,举凡法律历史、法理学、犯罪学、生物学、税法、国际法...等有关法律的专业丛书,皆有计划地予以收藏。其它如 The Frederick L. 位于华盛顿广场南端的博斯特图书馆(Elmer Holmes Bobst Library)建成于1972年,共有12层,总面积425,000英尺,拥有超过450万册的藏书量,是纽约大学8个图书馆中最大的一个,同时也是美国最大的大学图书馆之一。其中的埃弗里·费舍尔音乐与媒体中心(Avery Fisher Center for Music and Media)是世界上最大的学术媒体中心。图书馆还拥有美国保存最完整的当代英美文学藏书系列,以及保存最完整的当代社会学研究资料。
学校特色
