逻辑研究在加州伯克利由来已久，1957年伯克利数学系与哲学系联合设立了逻辑和科学方法论（Logic and Methodology of Science）项目，该项目主要分以下6个研究方向：

• 数学基础，包括集合论、地鬼论、模型论和证明理论（foundations of mathematics, including set theory, recursion theory, model theory, and theory of proofs）；
• 哲学逻辑，包括逻辑模型（philosophical logic, including modal logic）；
• 数学哲学（philosophy of mathematics）
• 计算机科学与人工智能中的逻辑（logic in computer science and artificial intelligence）
• 计算复杂性（theory of computational complexity）
• 逻辑史（history of logic）
