　　Personal Statement

　　I have cultivated a keen interest in literature, music and dance under the influence of my home environment since I was very young, so I never stopped soaking myself in interest of study since my childhood. Naturally I set up my future study direction expecting to recognize and research the relationship and integration among literature, music and dance from a new angle, and then bring them into a new research system for comprehensive study. Whenever I am longing for my future study goal, I couldn’t keep down the spiritual passion emerging in my mind just like the beautiful melody flowing from the black and white keys on piano, which makes my mind and soul popple.

　　It was this impulse that made me accumulate consistently and until now I have mastered theory, creation and performance in literature, music and dance to a certain degree. Especially in recent years, I published many papers of literature and arts, and original music works in Chinese core journals. Meanwhile, I have reached a high level and achieved great accomplishments in aspects such as various Chinese instruments and artistic performance. Whenever I achieved every little progress in study, I would recall pictures of my industrious study and training, my mother’s earnest and tireless guidance as well as my persistence to spare no efforts to go for masters’ pointing.

　　In 2005, in order to advance my study in music, I took my initiative to turn to Mr. Du Mingxin, the leading authority in field of composition in China. Although I confidently stated my ideas on comprehensive study of literature and music, when Mr. Du asked me if I have created any music works, I kept silent and realized my audacious behavior. Therefore, I started to take advantage of spare time strenuously studying music on my own in the following year. By the piano performance and foundation of music theory I have learned for many years since my childhood, after consulting abundant professional books and information, I commenced creating my own music. Moreover, in order to perfect my works, I tried to figure out and test sound effects of each note and melody repeatedly. Unfortunately, I suffered from serious varicella during this period with blain appearing from head to foot, and even my palm and fingers were full of blisters. However, I still set my teeth to endure the terrible pain when playing each key until blisters burst with ichor and blood spilling my keys. After finishing a tune, I limped on the ground with sweat and tears blurring my line of sight. Relying on this unbending spirit and steady will, I overcame mountains of difficulties and finally received the meticulous guidance of many masters in fields of music, literature and dance including Mr. Du as I expected.
